Gartnavel Royal Hospital PFI
Gartnavel Royal Hospital provides accommodation for a range of psychiatric care needs, including care of the elderly and those requiring intensive psychiatric care. The hospital provides 60 Adult Acute inpatients, 45 Elderly Acute inpatients and 12 IPCU inpatients.
All patient accommodation is single occupancy with en-suites, in single storey buildings with level garden access to each area. Further accommodation, services, administration and therapy suites are contained in a two storey Hub.
During the bid period, substantial engagement with NHS clinicians was scheduled to develop a solution that met differing output solutions for each patient group, whilst delivering a high quality, person-centred care facility encompassing a modern approach to mental health. The scheme is a new build on a part Greenfield/ part brownfield site in the grounds of the old Gartnavel Royal Hospital.
Gartnavel won the 2008 Health Facilities Scotland, Facilities Innovation Award. It was also highly commended in the Best Mental Health Design category at the 2008 BBH Better Healthcare Awards.
